Great, Reliable Car - 1997 Toyota Corolla
By 97 DX - February 9 - 4:16 pmMy dad bought this car new in 1997 and babied it ever since. I just bought it from him with only 87000 miles on it. The only thing he did was change oil every 3000 miles, replace timing belt and front brakes. I havent even had this car long enough to determine my miles per gallon but Im sure it will be outstanding. Great car for the money and very reliable. A+++

An Old Reliable Friend - 1997 Toyota Corolla
By Tom - December 5 - 6:23 amI bought my 1997 Corolla back in 2005 with under 60,000 miles. Today it has over 266,000 miles. The car has been a stalwart companion over the last 10+ years. Up until 2 years ago the only maintenance items were changing the brakes, battery and tires. I will say the A/C broke a few years into the purchase, and I never got it fixed, but you get used to that. Over the last few years had to put an alternator, serpentine belt, spark plug wires and starter; but considering the first 180,000 miles of ownership went so smooth, I guess it is to be expected. I would recommend this car to anyone who is looking for something simple, no nonsense and needs a reliable ride.

Most Dependable - 1997 Toyota Corolla
By Shail - October 2 - 10:00 amBought at 83k year and half ago. Now has 110k with no major problems. I had to do brake job which I know at the time of purchase. Still you feel like it can go upto 200k without any problems.

One satisfied customer - 1997 Toyota Corolla
By Ninotchka - September 25 - 8:33 pmOnly scheduled maintenance so far ... one previous owner (1997-2004) kept great records, though. The build quality is its best attribute; before I bought the car, I asked my mechanic what he would want to work on -- what had parts that are easy to get to, etc. He mentioned four or five vehicles, and I continued my research. This was a GREAT buy.

Review of the Toyota Corolla 1997 DX - 1997 Toyota Corolla
By florence walton - May 27 - 10:00 amNo problems; battery needs replacement at this time. Small dent, hardly viewable, on right front fender. Car has been utterly reliable, easily driven, easy to care for.

97 Corolla CE Great - 1997 Toyota Corolla
By flatoyce - March 27 - 7:06 amStarts and runs great and smooth every time. General maintenance only: oil changes, transmission fluid, anti freeze, new battery, etc. Would definitely buy again but think this car will run forever.

Safety outweighs fun! - 1997 Toyota Corolla
By DrPhil321 - February 15 - 2:00 amIts 2010 and I got this car over a year ago, has 70,000 miles. No problems! Looks old, and Im 62" so its hard to fit in it. The A/C also poor. This is a point A to point B car.

Better than a Ford - 1997 Toyota Corolla
By prevaly - October 25 - 10:00 amThis car is the most reliable car out there. I had this car for a long time. It never gave me any problem. I did not have to change anything on this car. I had the car oil change every 4,000 miles and it still run smoothly. I had a 98 ford before and it gave me nothing but problem. if you want reliable car pick a toyota.

One Great Car - 1997 Toyota Corolla
By kdblossom - June 13 - 10:00 amI bought this car after it had been wrecked. It was easy to have fixed and you cant tell it has ever been wrecked. It gets the same mileage as a new Corolla. It also has some get up and go when you want it to. The biggest problem I have noted is that the seat belts could be a little sturdier. I had to replace the drivers side as it did not work correctly. The people at my local dealership say this is a VERY common problem. Also, I hate were the cup holder is. However, I really love this car and do not regret buying it.
