Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

  • Toyota - beware of their engine problem - 2000 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I used to have great faith on Toyota until I realized my 42 K mile 5 year old toyota has an engine problem that is truly a manufacture defect! I bought it when it was 17 K miles. In May 05, I noticed oil light on and checked there was NO oil left in my engine at all. Immediately I took it to a very good car repair place and changed oil and they did not detect any leak. The assumption then was the previous oil change was not done properly; then 6 weeks later (yesterday) the oil light came back on and same issue - NO OIL in the car. I am not very pleased with the engine problem but it seems to me Toyota wont do anything about it which is unacceptable.

  • SORRY SORRY - 2014 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I am so sorry I purchased this car without some one more knowledgeable than me to look it over. I paid cash $12,700.00 for the car and should have never did it as I purchased it in a rush and was moving across state in 2 days. Before I had the car 7 days I had to pay $179.00 to have an oil leak fixed, however the dealer is suppose to send me a check for the repair. I had many scratches on the paint, a dent under the right door, I did not see and my front under panel if it is called that on the drivers side has a large crack in it which will most definitely have to be fixed. I am so upset about my car if I could get my money back I would. I take pride in our cars as we have only had 2 new ones and several used ones. I was told this car would last me for a long period of time, but with these things looking me in the eye each time I go to get into it I do not think so. I only live on social security and the sale of my husbands boat and truck was the only way I had cash to pay for this car. My husband is in long term care and I am and have been his caregiver for many years. I will never have the money to pay for another car as I have had to move into my sons home to have a place that I could live.

  • Disappointed - 2010 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I bought a 2010 Corolla with 9500 miles on it for $15k last summer. Its been a horrible experience. On the drive home a rattle appeared above the drivers side window. I had to take the car down to the dealership once every week regarding the rattle, and they alternated between "Its fixed" to "We cant hear anything." Finally after 2 months they finally found the side air bag was messed up. I have numerous rattles in the headliner, still. The car is eating up tires, as well. Might be suspension issues, but Im sick of dealing with the dealership. Hoping to trade it in for a new Civic, soon. Will never buy Toyota again. And on top of all of this, the interior materials are horrible!

  • Unhappy toyota owner - 2007 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I am very unhappy with the quality of my 2007 Corolla. I bought the car new from the dealer. I had to have the car towed and the engine computer replaced by the dealer, which apparently is a fairly common problem. In addition, the automatic transmission still shifts very roughly, but the dealer insists that the transmission is fine when it obviously isnt fine. I purchased an extended warranty since I expect the transmission to fail any day. The suspension is rough and I can feel every bump on the road.

  • First and Last Toyota - 2012 Toyota Corolla
    By -

We have owned our 2012 Toyota for about 4 months and it has 50k miles on it. The rear speakers are blown out; the windshield exploded from the inside without any impact and the dealership is refusing to reimburse us for a new windshield; when you turn the temperature control to "0," the fan never completely stops blowing air; something on the passenger side clunks when you hit your breaks and turn left; the windshield wipers were not properly designed to fit the windshield, therefore you can never see out the windshield; the windshield fogs up EXTREMELY BAD and because the windshield wipers dont touch the window, you literally cannot see anything until after the morning fog has lifted.

  • Worst Car Ever - 2003 Toyota Corolla

Nothing but trouble! Six check engine lights due to emissions failures. Transmission replaced at 2000 miles.Interior and exterior pieces falling off this is a lemon Very disappointing considering Toyotas reliability in the past on this vehicle big disappointment considering the high standards one normally expects from a Toyota!!!!

  • Great commuter car with issues. - 2015 Toyota Corolla
    By -

Pros: - great gas mileage (Im getting 35MPG with mostly highway miles) - entertainment console is easy to use even while in motion - small, sporty family car Cons: - way too small for anyone 6 or taller (I fit but commonly have to bend my legs and constantly be moving or my legs go numb, and a hard time getting in/out of the car) - also way too small for a family size larger than 2 (with my infant in her rear facing carseat behind the passenger seat my wife cannot fit due to height, she still has to sit behind the drivers seat to have any room) - this cars steering/handling is worst of any car I have ever owned (driving at highway speeds the car floats, it drives in a straight line but the body/suspension/frame are constantly pulling to the left or right. This motion causes me to constantly have to pull the car one way or the other. I have had to deal with 3-4 service appointments where I was told that "this was the issue" or "that was the issue". First time they told me the front tires had too much of a toe so they completed a four wheel alignment. Didnt fix the issue. Brought it in again and they replaced the rear axle beam. No fix. This last time, they told me nothing was wrong and that is "just how the Corolla handles.") - during snow, rain, or wind you might as well leave the car in the garage and walk to work (with any sort of wind, at all, the car is pushed around as if I was driving a skateboard, snow or rain is dangerous in this car) Overall: Im looking for a new car, ASAP. I may even try to lemon this thing.

  • Corolla LE plus Power Windows dont work in cold weather - 2013 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I have had the 2014 Corolla LE plus for less than two weeks. During that time, anytime the temperature drops below 20 degrees F, the front windows wont come down (open) I took it in for service, but everyone in the dealership I spoke with swore up and down that the same happens in cold weather to their front windows, too. I lodged a complaint with Toyota corporate, but they say they cant do anything about it now.

  • Engine Malfunction (Internal malfunction in the throttle body assembly) - 2010 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I had really bad experience with Toyota Corolla 2010. When I was driving, all of a sudden I felt that my steering wheel was tightened up and very hard to turn. Lights on my dashboard (ABS, ENGINE MALFUNCTION/CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR, BREAK, VSC OFF) were lightened up and my car came to a total stop after about 3 minutes. I was very scared as I had my baby and family in the car when this happened. I tried starting my car several times but it failed to respond. I towed the car to the local dealer. The dealership people got back to me saying there was an internal malfunction in the throttle body assembly. They fixed and I took back the car and I put another 100 miles and again the same incident ha
