  • CVT , CVT, CVT, NISSAN WRONG DECISSION! - 2016 Nissan Maxima
    By -

my first big issue of this car is the interior space, its so small, nissan squeezed this car unbelievably, cant understand why really, every position in this car is so small, driver position is definitely the worst position in this car, such a huge console why?, what was the purpose of this? if you are trying to put stuff like that u have to make more room in this car, unacceptable! second issue, this car should paired with regular automatic transmission like infiniti does, but not CVT, its a big mistake, its killing all the power of this beautiful engine, such a disaster with that CVT! the gas mileage actually stay way behind what nissan is saying, with 300hp engine should never be paired with CVT!

Decided on a lease for the first time ever. 2016 Platinum Maximum. Beautiful car. Really good power after the paltry Honda Fit that made me feel like I was going to get run over when entering a highway. Thought I would love it. The young woman who took us through the operation manual seemed to do a fine job and we were really happy with having chosen it over the Avalon. First thing we noticed was that the two USB ports that were a *huge* bonus to have so we could charge two phones at once DONT WORK. Apparently, Nissan only engineered them to charge Apple products, so were SOL with our Nexus 6 phones. They, apparently, didnt know this because they changed out the whole brain only to discover they still didnt work. Thats when they told us they are for iPhones. Who the aitch engineers a car so that only a small segment of buyers can charge their phones? There *is* the cigarette lighter dock inside the console for one phone. Back to charging only one phone. Except. My husband, an electrical engineer, figured out how to make one of the two USB ports work (the other appears to be dead), so we can use the cigarette lighter dock and one USB. And, no, we wont be telling them how he figured it out and, no, it did not involve any rewiring or any physical changes in the car. Furious about this. The Drivers seat settings only adjust periodically and never work if we change drivers using the same key. Push #2 after #1 was driving and nothing happens. Seat stays at #1 setting. Sonar seems to be off now and I cannot find a single mention of sonar, back up camera, or any number of other guesses I made when studying the Owners Manual or the Navigation manual. Additionally, I test drove the car, so did not ride in the passenger seat. Im 54" and it feels as if Im sitting in a hole. I had no idea that the passenger seat did not adjust up and down. Took it for granted that a car of that price would have both seats adjustable. Boy, was I wrong. There is no way in the world that I will ever buy another Nissan no matter how nice this one appears to be. But it was a learning experience, Ill say that.

  • Great looking car but with issues - 2016 Nissan Maxima

I am only 6 tall but I had issues with the extra thick door at the knee level and the extremley high console at the knee level. This caused my knees to be way too close together making it an uncomfortable driving position for me. Also the gas pedal it too far to the right-not a natural position at all. The worst part of the Platinum model is the sound system. Very flat, very tinny, cheap sound! We have owned 2 Maximas and 2 Infinitis and all had Bose sound systems in them. Right away, we realized that the current sound system in the 2016 Platinum is very-very inferior to all of our previous Bose car systems. Our Toyota van sounds much better and it is just the basic sound system, not a Bose. We tried all sources of music and did all adjustments you can make and the sound system has very weak bass and just a very plain sound. This caused us to not buy the car actually. Love the look and performance but being uncomfortable for me to drive and weak sounding sound. Very sad but true

  • What in the world did I pay for - 2016 Nissan Maxima

Yes, I know you dont buy a car just for all of the bells and whistles. Doesnt that add to the decision of your purchase? I traded a 2012 maxima for this beautiful 2016 Platinum. There are a few things that really bother me about the vehicle like stupid visors. They look like they were forgotten about and just had some thrown on. The curves on the outside of the visor are just in the right spot for the sun to come through when you use the slide feature. In the previous Maxima there was a sliding extender that worked very well for blocking out the blinding sun. That did not need to be changed. I also had a six disc CD changer that also included a feature that I could record my CDs and save them right there in the system. Now I have just one disc option . That did not need to change. Now the thing that really makes me upset with my purchase is the fact that all of the cool apps I was told about are not available on the TOP OF THE LINE, FULLY LOADED 2016 NISSAN MAXIMA I PAID OVER 42, 000 FOR. Talk about buyers remorse. if the little small things I thought I was getting could change then this would be the perfect vehicle. If I could turn back the clock a few months I would have kept my 2012 and waited until these stupid things were fixed. On top of all of that, there was a recall already on the fuel system/gas tank and after starting the vehicle there is an annoying clicking when I apply the break that I was told was something that I would just have to live with.

  • 2016 Maxima SL - 2016 Nissan Maxima

My car is only 3 weeks into the lease and it already requires an entire new sunroof. When filling up the tank to full it estimates 400 miles and after 3 full tanks Ive only got an average of 250 miles a tank. I mostly drive highway and and havent even used sport mode. I am disappointed a brand new car has such a serious defect right off the lot and may not have myou car for a few weeks.

  • Should have purchased something else. - 2016 Nissan Maxima

I love the sleek look of my new 2016 Maxima SL but wish I would have purchased something else. I acceleration is poor. The cost not worth the car. I bought it in super black but having issues with the dealer because it The detail shop waxed it and now I have a lot of swirls and scratches in the paint.

  • Smaller on the inside while bigger on the outside - 2016 Nissan Maxima

Ive owned 09 & traded for a 12; loving them both except for each had cabin electronics failures before 34K... My test of the 16 was enjoyable yet uncomfortable. Why? The connection hit me when the salesman mention the aircraft cockpit styling changes. THAT WAS IT! Why I was so uncomfortable. the 16s new cabin mods reduced seat width and right leg room reminding me not of a fighter cockpit; but the cramped seating of all my hated 200 flights in the past 18 months. Sorry - the 12 will not got to a 2016 PS I miss the paddle shifters. I actually use them.
