Overview & Reviews
Since the Maxima was updated last year and is scheduled for a redesign in 2004, there are no major changes in store for the family sedan in 2003. There's a Titanium Edition package available for the SE and side airbags are now standard on GLEs.
- Impressively powerful V6 engine, sports car moves, availability of premium features, plenty of room for five adults.
- High price, rough ride quality with SE suspension.

What a engine wheres the rest of the car - 2003 Nissan Maxima
By autow - September 4 - 10:00 amI bought an 03 program car. The engine is perfect i never thought nissan could make such a perfect engine with power and torque its great. But where is the thought on the rest of the car the interior needs help short people cannot use the arm rest up or down... The audio system is poor. The road noise is terrible and the se suspension is too rough i enjoy a great handling car and i like to feel the road but i dont like getting beat to death. Take a lesson from acura or bmw their sport pkgs are much much smoother yet handling is crisp. Plus rattles in the doors not sure i have ever had a rattle in japanese car until this one...

Not bad for what it is... - 2003 Nissan Maxima
By richbaker - August 29 - 2:00 amThis is not a bad car for its price segment. I liked the Maxima for its size, decent comfort, good mileage considering it is a large V6, horsepower. It handles OK, but big understeer, and huge torque steer. Good features like stereo with 6 disc changer, xenon headlamps, steering wheel controls. The leather is cheap, hard and thin. If I bought the car I really wanted (Audi A4), I probably could have gotten a better car for about the same payments since the residual is so much higher (53%). So I have 40 months to go before I get what I really want.

funto drive - 2003 Nissan Maxima
By mrmugs - July 16 - 2:00 amOwned since June-love the performance, but already see that the factory Bridgestone Potenzas HAVE to GO!With the power this car has, lousy wet traction and easy hydroplaning.Looking into winter tires, but a very hard size to find.

Six years and going strong - 2003 Nissan Maxima
By mike v - May 28 - 7:36 pmI have been a Nissan fan for many years. My 03 Maxima is my fifth Nissan. I have a 92 max with 175,000 mi on it that I use as my daily driver. I have the titanium ed with gray leather. The car has 37,000 mi on it, and is garage kept. The car is not perfect but overall I like it very much. Although this car dates back to the 2000 model year, I still get compliments all the time. There are some things that do bother me and should be considered. The rear suspension is of the solid beam scissor link variety. This is old school tech and Nissan should be ashamed. To be fair the set up works reasonably well but cant compare with the multi link suspensions that most cars have today.

Same Old Same Old - 2003 Nissan Maxima
By valtch - March 17 - 10:00 amAsked dealer not to give me firestone or bridgstone tires. it turned out that all my bridgstone tires were replaced by goodyear eagles. Car rides harder than any new car I have ever been in. It is extremely powerful but has horrible gas mileage. seats are comfortable. I have a bad back. Extras are an expensive ripoff. 2000 nissan maxima was a better car. these cars need independent rear suspension. Would I buy another maxima? not a chance. far over-priced for what you get.

By Nissan lover - February 7 - 2:00 amBefore buying an 03 Maxima, i had an 89 maxima- and i didnt have to think twice about which car to buy next. The maximas are definetely reliable, and that was the #1 thing i was looking for since i commute everyday! There have been many Maximas in my family, and i didnt think twice!

Bang for Buck - 2003 Nissan Maxima
By jreddington - March 10 - 10:00 amHated 04 styling. Picked up used (13K) 03. All options incl. Nav. Potenzas hydroplane. Suspension and low profile tires are great for smooth roads. Potholes knock you silly. Squeaks and rattles down the road? Also disappointed with the BOSE stereo. Cranked up full volume, still not enought when windows and sunroof are open. My 92 SE had a better BOSE system. Im still debating whether the nav system is useful or a toy. It seems shoehorned in and having to do A/C controls on the screen seems an afterthought when they took the dash real estate away from the standard controls. I think the dash looks better without the nav system.
