This Year's Model Updates:

All new for 1995, the excellent Maxima receives few changes for 1996. A four-way power passenger seat is available, a new center console cupholder will hold a Big Gulp and two new colors grace the Maxima's decidedly dull flanks. Taillights are as ugly as ever.

I got my 96 GLE loaded when I got my license, and have loved it ever since. It has everything I could ask for and then some. The Bose audio system is simply amazing, I thought I was gonna have to spend big bucks for a nice sound system, not with this car! The sunroof is an added bonus, so are the leather seats. When merging onto highways, Im at 60 MPH in no time.

I just bought a 96 Maxima GXE 5-Speed. Its gorgeous and it hauls ass - its the fastest car Ive ever owned. I love Nissans. I had an 85 300ZX that was bulletproof (until my roomate totaled it) I just sold my 2001 Silverado - it was just too expensive to keep. I got the Maxima for under $6K and I am really happy with it. Ive only owned it for a day, but Im already in love with the power and ride. It almost has 100K miles, so I know I will have to put some money into it for maintenance.

The car has given me "0" problems since I have owned it. The ride is still smooth and has had minimum service costs.

This has been and continues to be the most dependable vehicle I have ever owned...and I have owned alot. I purchased this car pre-owned at my dealers recommendation. He did me a great service! If you need a great vehicle, this is it!! I have not spent a dime on this car except for oil changes and brakes. Id get another one in a heartbeat!

We bought our Maxima SE w/auto transmission after considering the V-6 versions of the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Avalon. Felt the Maxima gave us the best bang for the buck and the "Max" has not disappointed us. Engine gives excellent performance, uses no oil, and gets 28 mpg on road trips. We have concluded well be keeping her for at least 3 more years.

I read these reviews and purchased a 1996 Nissan Maxima with 76,000 miles. I thought that it would have plenty of life left. I have replaced the odometer, the radio works only about 20% of the time, locks malfunction often, and the passenger door gets stuck and wont open so we have to crawl through the drivers side. It has been out of service twice lately and had to be towed. The repair shop said it might be best to get rid of it.

excellent car in town; lacks comfort on long drive; is a complicated auto; still dont know how security system work!! embarassing when horn starts blowing! is quick to start; low gear ratio, very good; gas mileage so so; about 20 mpg.
