  • Front Seat Comfort takes away from excellent ride - 2017 Hyundai Elantra
    By -

Im a big guy- 6 feet tall 240 and the front seat in the SE is not giving me support- my back aches driving to car but I am planning to get a special seat cushion- this is an ok car and lacks some extras that could make the car more technical savvy- Only one USB that we can find- No back up camera, and a CD player?? We wanted the basic model to lease AND WE GOT A GREAT DEAL.......payment is only $180 a month with zero down- Dealer was very knowledgeable and we were in and out in under two hours- that was cool- car looks awesome- and has a lot of room vs the competition- but it is like a rental car and I wish Hyundai would have made some simple additions in technology to the basic SE model-

  • some negative things and some positive - 2017 Hyundai Elantra
    By -

After owning this car for two months, here are the things Im pleased with: great interior and exterior styling. Quiet smooth engine, good power (until you have to climb a hill) loads of features, incredible rebates to bring down the price, love the heated seats! Negatives: bucket seats are extremely hard and uncomfortable, leather steering wheel is very slippery, new car smell is too intense (plastic smell), sunroof sits back too far, cant see the sky unless you tilt your head back, volume knob and up/down volume controls on wheel r slow to respond, very quiet in general but some tire noise gets into the cabin at highway speeds.

  • What a difference 30 years makes - 2017 Hyundai Elantra
    By -

In 1986 Hyundai introduced the Excel. It was cheap. It came with automatic transmission, air conditioning and a radio. Basic transportation for $5k. They were made in Korea and I had to wait weeks to get one. What a piece of junk. That car almost put an end to Hyundai in the US. We take for granted reliable cars today but Hyundai was a junk car and that stigma lasts to this day. No more. First my personal opinion. I dont like Korean cars. They are disposable transportation appliances. As they age they become unreliable. So my daughter wants a new car. After learning on a beater. So we shop. I advised her that this is the kind of car you lease. Its a transportation appliance. So she leases this one and I have to say its a nice car. Roomy and good on gas. Power everything. Quiet ride and engine. The radio connects to her iphone easily and it sounds good. It includes oil changes and washes too, A good deal. Now time will tell if it holds up to a 20 year olds hard driving.

  • Windshield - 2017 Hyundai Elantra

Our Elantra is 5 weeks old. It was parked outside a friends house for 3 hours. Virtually no traffic and no trees overhead. The temperature was about 86 degrees. When my wife returned to the car there was a 12 inch crack in the windshield. No evidence at all that it was caused by an object, no star or chip, just the crack. My theory is heat caused the crack, something I have never seen before. Is the windshield defective? That is my conclusion.

  • Blown away by wind - 2017 Hyundai Elantra

Updated review still feel the same about the wind noise, but its a nice little car otherwise. Take it out on the interstate and run it at highway speeds, because the wind noise it HORRIBLE!!!! I commute for work and seriously get stressed out by the noise. Sounds as if you are in a really bad wind storm all of the time. I have taken it back to the dealer and they say its the design of the car! I love the way it looks and handles but if I had it to do over probably would shop for something else because of this.

  • Decent car for the price - 2017 Hyundai Elantra

The acceleration with the turbo is jerky/cuts out. That is very annoying. Happens around 2000-3000rpm mainly. The consensus on forums is that its the way the car is tuned from the factory causes the wastegate dump to open and close to frequently causing the acceleration to feel like it drops out for a split second many times in a row. 7 speed gearbox is decent but shifts awkwardly at times. Exterior car looks great. Interior is awesome. Seats are comfy, dash layout is great. Dual AC works perfect. Ergonomics of everything fits well. The look and feel of the interior is very Audi-esque which I very much like. Passenger side door handle seems a little loose. Had the car for a month and a half. Overall satisfied. However would like the acceleration issues fixed. Entertainment system crashed and rebooted itself last night. Hopefully that doesnt become a regular thing.

  • Catchy Title - 2017 Hyundai Elantra
    By -

It is a Hyundai and if you have Acura or Lexus expectations, you will be disappointed. If you are looking for a competent, well equipped vehicle that is suited for long and short drives then you wont be disappointed. I drive 1,000 miles a week and love the Elantra. It handles the highway with ease, greats great fuel economy, and is very comfortable for me. Cons: OEM Nexen tires on my limited edition Elantra SUCK. They are the worst tires I have ever ridden on and are ok in dry weather but dangerous in rain or snow. Power is a little anemic especially at 7000 feet where I live (we lose 20% horsepower at our altitude). Vehicle easily cruises at 85-90 mph once it attains speed. Engine is VERY quiet and so quiet that my wife has forgotten to shut it off a couple of times. Seats are comfortable for me so no complaints there. It could use a little more power but when Im feeling the need for speed, I hop into my Santa Fe Sport 2.0turbo which is a sleeper. Great vehicle and I really like it and think the average buyer will be impressed.

  • Cabin Noise - 2017 Hyundai Elantra

While driving on freeway, too much noise inside car for new vehicle.

  • NOT GOOD FOR LONG DISTANCE DRIVING - 2017 Hyundai Elantra
    By -

After driving the car now for eight months, I can now give a more authentic review. I am extremely disappointed in the gas mileage. When I first got the car, the mileage was great. Now eight months later, the mileage is no way as good as when I first purchased the vehicle. The Elantra is a great car if you are only planning to drive around town. The Elantra is NOT for long distance driving. The pick-up is lousy. I have a short commute to work, so the Elantra works for me. Its a nice car for short distance driving.
