Overview & Reviews
Hyundai's Elantra sedan was redesigned last year, but the big news for 2002 is the release of the GT version, an all-new five-door hatchback that boasts such upscale standard equipment as a leather-trimmed interior, European suspension tuning, four-wheel disc brakes, 15-inch wheels, foglamps and a CD player. In September 2002, Hyundai announced that it had misstated the horsepower ratings for all of the models in its lineup -- the Elantra is now rated at 135 hp, rather than 140. To compensate, the company is offering owners (of 2000 models and newer) three options: 10 years of roadside assistance, 6-year/72,000-mile basic warranty coverage or 12-year/120,000-mile powertrain coverage.
- Solidly built, powerful engine for its class, plenty of standard features, ultra-low price tag.
- Funky front styling details.

great car, great value - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By trunks - August 8 - 5:00 pmi love my car! it feels and drives like it costs $10,000 more! the interior is comfortable, roomy, holds my snowboard easily, great for drive in movies, and the leather feels smooth! the drive quality is also smooth, road noise could be a little better, but otherwise, cant find anything wrong. sunroof and windows work great, CD stereo sounds great, keyless works flawlessly, and the speedometer looks cool blue!

Hyundais Sports Sedan - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By jimpimms - July 2 - 10:50 amA bona fide sports sedan, and all for a paltry $13,999 MSRP. The included equipment for that price is phenomenal. Even with the moonroof-ABS-traction control package, its barely over 15Gs (plus delivery, fees, and taxes). Fit and finish is superb, inside and out. With the traction control option, the car refuses to plough in the corners, and holds the road like its on rails, even in the wet. The gutsy 2.0 litre 140hp engine accelerates spiritedly, ride and handling are well-balanced, and NVH is minimal. Add the impressive warranty and 5 year unlimited mileage roadside assistance, and its a deal you cant refuse.

Fast, Fun and Features Oh My! - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By drvrage - May 27 - 2:00 amI am so very pleased with my Elantra after 5000km. I love it a little more each day. I adore the firm handling that really conveys road feel without being too harsh. The power is invigorating and makes the car fun to drive in manual form. If driven normaly, gas mileage is good for engine type and car weight. Features leave me wanting for nothing.

2002 Elantra GT Hatchback - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By smille0131 - May 27 - 2:00 amA thouroughly enjoyable driving experience for under $20,000. This vehicle is a refreshing example of what a manufacturer can offer if they choose to do so.

Great Value - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By Art S - May 20 - 7:50 amI needed cheap transportation but still like some comforts and the GT is a great bargain. My daughter loves to drive it when she is home and she has a new Beetle and loves it but talks about how much fun to drive the GT is. Personally I love the trip computer and that was what made the difference for me.

id rather have a yugo. - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By bgbstrd - May 11 - 9:13 pmNo fun, no power, and phantom electrical issues. Been ok reliability wise, but is no fun. Steers like a Mack truck, rides like a Jeep with mud tires, and even after you sacrifice all the enjoyment of driving you only get about 24 miles a gallon. Thats not good enough for me. If it got 30 or better, then ok.

Love It!! - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By LivLarge - May 3 - 10:00 amDropped it with some Eibach Springs and threw on some 18" wheels and my neihbor with a Lexus IS300 is jealous becuase the kids in the neighborhood think mine looks better. I get heads to turn all over town and people in parking lots are always asking me if it really is a Hyundai. Couldnt be happier.

I love my Elantra GT - 2002 Hyundai Elantra
By Eddie/Nilda Vazquez - May 3 - 10:00 amIve had my red Elantra GT for almost a year now. I went from an Accent to an Elantra GT and its amazing how different the vehicles are. Obviously the prices alone are going to make a difference, but for the price, I could not be happier with my car. Not only do I love how it looks externally and internally, it has pretty good pick up. Im a twenty year old college student and its perfect if you want a mature, good looking car.
