  • Should have stayed with Toyota - 2012 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I have had my Odyssey for almost 4 years. 53,000 we have had to purchase tires, been through three sets of brakes on the front and new roters. Now having transmission problems. The DVD system has problems, the seats shake, the center seat cupholder has been replaced twice. The interior is plastic and everything scratches it. For what we paid this is so disappointing.

  • The name Honda is no longer synonymous with quality - 2012 Honda Odyssey

I purchased my 2012 Odyssey EX-L with around 23K on it and it IMMEDIATELY started to shake when braking. I took it to the dealer and they turned the rotors free of charge. 3K miles later it started shaking AGAIN and they wanted me to pay for it for over $300.00. I am now at 47K and getting my first brake job and am told that I need rotors FRONT AND BACK to the tune of $1200.00. FOR A BRAKE JOB! I am calling Honda America b/c I am infuriated. I have owned 4 previous Hondas, a Subaru Outback and a Ford F-150 and have NEVER EVER had issues with my rotors like this, even with the awful Ford! I have also had problems with the suspension, rear hatch, RES, rim peeling, and transmission. AWFUL!

  • Cheap Continental Tires - 2012 Honda Odyssey
    By -

After 2 years of driving the mini-van, here is my review: 1) Cheap Tires - After 21,000 miles, the original Continental Tires already wore out. I had to spend over $600.00 for new tires. 2) Too Wide - I had an accident involving my garage and the mini-van fender. The car is just too wide for my garage. 3) Cheap Spoiler - The spoiler at the top rear of van is made of cheap plastic (but expensive to replace). I prefer it to be made of metal. 4) Sliding Door Jam - Clicking the pushbutton two times will cause the sliding door to stall. 5) Cheap Plastic Bumpers 6) No Side Molding - Paid about $300 for side molding purchase and installation. 7) Outside Temperatre Gauge not Accurate

  • Transmission Replacement at 18K - 2012 Honda Odyssey
    By -

My wife and I decided that the Odyssey would be the best bet based on our growing family but soon had doubts. 1. After 4K miles the windows started rolling down automatically when the car was parked - at home, in the parking garage at work, in downtown DC. I took it to the dealership twice before they diagnosed a defective key fob and replaced both keys. 2. At 18K miles we started noticing a little hesitation when driving on the highway between 45-55 miles per hour. I took it to the dealership where they told me the transmission needed to be replaced. Now with a new transmission we have 25K miles and I feel a similar hesitation. I think I need to trade the van before the warranty is up.

  • "Swimming" - 2012 Honda Odyssey
    By -

My 2012 Odyssey is only 6 months old. A month ago I noticed water (puddle) in the rear cargo floor well.I was told this doesnt happen to the Odyssey only in the Honda civic. So after a week without my van I was told it was the rear seam sealer was missing and this is how the water was getting in. Well now Im just waiting for the next rain storm. If I wanted a van with a pool I would have ordered one. Also there have been 2 recalls. Is this Van going to last at lest 10 years? I always had a Ford and my Ford Van lasted 10 years. Im not saying dont buy the Odyssey because it is a good ,comfortable van, just buyer be aware.

  • Just not the same old odyssey!!!! - 2012 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I just recently traded in my 2003 Odyssey for a 2012. If you are considering the Odyssey, I would strongly suggest looking at the Toyota Sienna over the Honda Odyssey! At first we loved the van, but it is very apparent that Honda has compromised its quality. Within a week of taking delivery of the vehicle it was apparent that the quality of the plastic of the interior trim was poor. We have scuffs and markings from the seat belt retracting. Hondas response is, "sorry thats cosmetic and not covered under warranty". We are also having a recurring loud noise coming from the front end. In all, Hondas quality is no longer what it used to be. There are better options for $40,000!!!!!

  • Disappointed! - 2012 Honda Odyssey
    By -

We purchased a new 2012 Odyssey in Dec. I traded in my 2008 Sienna with over 100,000 miles. Big mistake!!! I really enjoyed driving the Sienna. It was easy to maneuver and I had no problems getting in and out of parking spaces. It also had nice leg room in the front. The Odyssey leg space is so small my husband sits in the back with the kids even on short trips around town. The worst parts are the SLOW back doors and the fact you have to hold down on the remote key for 3 seconds before the doors begin to open. Big issue- the car pulls to the left when going over 60 mph in fast lane. Service dept said it was because of minor slant in road for drainage?!?!

  • 2012 odysseys has its flaws - 2012 Honda Odyssey
    By -

take a close look at the 2011 -2012 odyssey. Ours has 80 miles on it, 1 week old. Rear brake pads was changed, it was literally deteriorating badly , rear rotors had scores in it. engine light came on and to get reset, poorly aligned rear tail gate, bad gaps in body panel, misaligned, poorly painted front and rear bumpers, take a close look at the two rear bumper reflectors, on either sides of it is not painted, under the bumpers are not painted. Honda bean counters are trying to save money by skimping on paint here folks, what else are they doing to save money on a 35K van, it is inexcusable in my book. Other areas of the van that paint is not applied because most consumer dont pay know

  • Only slightly better than their nearest competitor - 2012 Honda Odyssey
    By -

This is my 3rd Honda/Acura purchase in the last 6 years, and like my others, this is typical Honda. The Odyssey is only slightly better or manages to bring in more features than others in their class. By this, I mean you are getting a mini-van which has the most space, the best EPA mileage, likely the best re-sale value, and just about every safety and entertainment feature available. The implementation of many of these features, however, are often frustrating/incomplete/difficult to use. But, if youre buying an Odyssey, chances are you know that walking in and as I stated, its the best option. The Elite has the 6 spd transmission, gets you around town easily, and keeps the kids happy

  • Good except for the engine - 2012 Honda Odyssey
    By -

We bought the Odyssey right before Thanksgiving to accomodate a growing family. Everything went well for the first 10 days. It drove well and our daughter loved it. Unfortunately on day 10 of ownership, one of the rocker plates broke and got sucked into the intake and destroyed the engine. So now I dont have a car for the next week or two while it gets a new engine. Less then 700 miles with an engine going bad is a tad ridiculous. Wish I could go back on the decision to buy this and go with the Chrysler which I ironically did not buy due to concerns with reliability and resale. Go figure.
