New owner of a seasoned red DX cpe 5-spd - 1996 Honda Civic
By coastie_in_va - February 17 - 12:22 pmId looked for a reliable gas sipper to give my Tacoma a rest and found a retired nurse selling her car. So, for $1,600 I had my civic with only 89,8XX miles! Yes, I know. So with some small parts from the junkyard, brakes, new tires, a little body work, paint job, and new timing belt/water pump I have my jewel. If I didnt have a car in the garage, Id keep this one in it and only take it out in good weather, lol. So, great car for running around the DC area. If you can find one in good shape go for it!

Will keep it for life! - 1996 Honda Civic
By monkeybomb - January 21 - 11:40 amI bought my 1996 civic 3 years ago. Ive put the work into it that it needed replacing cv axles, ball joints, control arms etc... I attribute these things to previous owner errors. This has been the best car! Its small but not cramped. I have 3 kids and we all fit. Mine is a 5 speed standard transmission and I routinely get 37-39 combined MPG! I HAVE ~240,000 miles on this car with the original transmission, clutch and engine. Shes still running strong and is well worth every penny I have into her. If taken care of properly, this car will go forever! Buying seals from auto parts stores will not fix any leakage problem buy direct from dealer.

My 1996 Honda Civic Ex "Baby" - 1996 Honda Civic
By jenny30 - April 26 - 7:54 pmAll i can say is i have never been happier than owning my Honda Cv. Im a proud owner of it. I got it when it had 90,000 miles purchased as is 3500 no warranty from a friend. My baby is still going strong. Its been in two wrecks not my fault. And its still going. I fixed it though got it a new body kit. It needs a newer one. I really have nothing bad to say about this, i maintain my vehicle very well. Happy to say ive treated is as i would want to be treated and its giving me favor in return. Ive fixed minor things like water pump that would go bad for a 96 or air filter stuff like that. Nothing major. My baby is now at over 200,000 miles and still going strong. Long live HONDA!

Great Lil Car - 1996 Honda Civic
By eb_thatsme - February 23 - 11:30 amIm in the military, and im a single mother. I got this car during the winter and was surprised as to how well it did on the roads in Italy [im in Pisa]. My daughters car seat actually fits quite well behind me while i drive and i drive comfortably.. [mind u im also 56] Its a great lil work car, i get awesome gas mileage [i only put about euro 40 in every two weeks]. This is just an awesome lil car. I do have dash problems, as in the display doesnt work, but all in all, great lil car. And amazing space!

Amazing Car - 1996 Honda Civic
By DavidAndreww - May 5 - 12:16 amI bought my little honda civic in 2002 as a sophomore in high school. I bought it with 145,000 miles. Currently its at 214,000. It still runs like a champ after the 7 years and 70,000 miles Ive put on it. Unfortunately I have to sell it because it failed inspection, but only for cosmetic reasons. Didnt take care of a bit of rust in one of the wheel wells and its taken its toll, and at this point it is smarter to get a new car than drop $2000 to repair. Also would like to mention that Ive been in 3 fender benders with this thing, and Ive had to do nothing to it. Just routine oil changes. Buy a Honda.

Great car! - 1996 Honda Civic
By km - April 24 - 5:33 pmI bought my civic in 1999 with 37,000 miles on it. Were in 2009 and it has 180,000 miles now. I have had no issues with it whatsoever, just the normal maintenance. It has been so reliable and dependable. Gas mileage is great! Honda knows what theyre doing!

I Love This CAR! - 1996 Honda Civic
By dalaeaka - September 20 - 9:54 amI bought this from a friend with 80,000 miles on it in 2004, before gas prices went up. Since then, all Ive done is do the recommended timing belt/water pump change @ 110,000 mi (they looked brand new. Otherwise, I just drive it (about 20,000 miles per year. In the summer, with the air off, I can get up to 42 mpg. With the air on, I get 36 mpg! I carry two kayaks on top and get 34 mpg! I change the oil every 3,000 miles, thats it. Not the most comfortable car for a long drive, but at 40mpg, I can out up with it. The only problem Ive had is with the driver side window falling off the track, which I can fix in about 15 minutes. I love the DX, as has no power anything to break!

284,200 miles of civic HX quality - 1996 Honda Civic
By ron - August 3 - 9:00 pmIt averages out to 23,683 mi/yr. crazy, huh? went through 1 month of self troubleshooting w/ egr and related systems, spent near $500 total incl getting the engines cooling channels (in the block) cleaned, 3 yrs ago. AVERAGED 43 mpg first 3-4 yrs, dropped to 40/41 next several yrs, the egr killed to 30-32, the fix brought it back to 35-37 mpg. The CVT tranny has been going out for, no b.s., the last 34k miles! I am STILL getting 35-37 mpg! The NEW Civics barely get this let alone any other domestic name out there. I wish I could of had the veh before or after this one from the production line and stored to drive it when this veh finally finds the big garage in the sky.
