Grinding Noise/VTC Actuator Problem - 2013 Honda CR-V
By J. Hamby - September 4 - 11:49 amBeware! I have a 2013 CR-V that has been making a terrible grinding noise since about 6 months after purchase. Honda Service has diagnosed it as the VTC Actuator. Noise has become much worse over time and this noise occurs almost every time I start my vehicle. Very annoying!! Ive been told Honda Motors Tech Division has been working on coming up with a fix but there is NO FIX at this time. I was basically told by the Honda Service Dept to drive it till it breaks. Not what I wanted to hear. This problem has been occurring in various Honda vehicles since model year 2008 and they still dont have a fix. Why? Why keep producing something with the same problems?? Honda wont even attempt to replace the part to see if it will remedy the problem, because they say the new part wont fix it. If you cant fix it, then you need to replace the car!

Head lights are awful - 2013 Honda CR-V
By kvalenti - January 8 - 1:12 pmI have had this car for over a year and hate it at night I cant see the road even with the high beams on. The road noise is very loud. When I go down hill the gears dont down shift and the sound is awful. And the other day I had the ABS light the Power Steering light and the Traction control light come on so now I have to take it in for service I am trading it in as soon as I can and not for another Honda. Very disappointed.

2013 Honda CrV-Do Not Purchase-Poor Exterior Lighting - 2013 Honda CR-V
By pompom - September 18 - 1:40 pmWe test drove this car during the day. We were dumbfounded at how the exterior lights on this car are not pointed toward the road. You can night drive at night unless you have your high beams on. Good luck with that. The dealer states nothing is wrong. You have got to be kidding. Only have 3,200 miles on it and this may be the first car that we dump that is less than 6 months old. An accident waiting to happen!

Oh how I wanted to love this CRV. So disappointed - 2013 Honda CR-V
By Run from Honda - May 8 - 4:33 pmBeware! Do NOT purchase any CRV made in 2008 or later. My 2013 CR-V that is cared for per manufactures recommendations and driven moderately has been making a terrible grinding noise since about 1 year after purchase. Honda Service has diagnosed the noise as emanating from the VTC Actuator. Noise has become much worse over time and this noise occurs after every cold start. The noise is so loud that it turns heads in parking lots. What is really frustrating is that Honda has know of this issue since 2008 and still has not corrected the problem and does not disclose the issue prior to purchase. Honda simply states, "Yes there is a loud grinding noise but dont worry it is not doing any damage to the engine." This is my fourth Honda (I typically purchase a new car once every 4 to 5 years). This experience has left me resolve to never purchase another Honda. By the way three of my family members own CRV (2011, 2015 and 2016 -- two of the three make the same LOUD grinding noise when starting the engine. Toyota or Subaru here we come.

battery keep on dying, replace relay and etc... - 2013 Honda CR-V
By Southern California Hondar user - September 3 - 4:10 amBattery keep on dying, dealer is lazy(bring it in for a repair, battery died and they just jumped it) and do not want to repair the vehicle. It is as bad as it get. Many Honda dealer just put normal oil(not 0/20). It is very hard to find a good Honda dealer that know how to fix their car.

Cannot Open Cargo Door - 2013 Honda CR-V
By Jae - August 7 - 6:13 pmI have had to fix the door twice because the Cargo door would not open. No matter how hard, and long I press the latch, the door would not open. At first the dealer fixed the issue by replacing the entire latch, but after a month of use, the problem came back again. Six month after the second fix, the latch was slow to react, until finally, stopped working entirely. Now that the Warranty expired, the dealer is charging to fix the problem. Very Disappointed with Honda.
