  • Mixed thoughts on my CR-V - 1999 Honda CR-V

I have had my 1999 LX CR-V for 8 mths now. No problems yet, great gas mi. for a so called "SUV". It was cheaply made on the inside, seats are horribly hard for my 2-3hr per day commute. If you have dogs the back is poorly thought out, no pop out windows for air. Sound system stinks. Control pannels poorly placed. I am yound and feel like an old timer driving this car it seems too much like a wagon and kick myself for not spending the extra money for the Toyota 4Runner which is so much more plush all around. If you want a cheaper (cost wise)SUV you WILL wind up with everything "CHEAPER!"

  • Transmission died after only 33,200... - 1999 Honda CR-V

I have been a huge Honda/Acura fan. In fact my family has owned four Honda/Acuras. We loved our 1999 CRV until two weeks ago when the automatic transmission died. The car is out of warranty it is over three years old, but we only have 33,200 miles on it. The dealer said it will cost $4900 to replace the trany. I have called Honda and am waiting to hear if they will offer a goodwill warranty extension. Has anyone else seen this problem?

  • Highly recommended - 1999 Honda CR-V

I leased mine, intending to give it up next week, but I have not found anything better for the value on the market, so Im buying it! New CRV is so ugly I cant stand it, but I love my 99. Have never had a problem, and only do regular oil changes. Easy to maneuver, impressive amount of interior room--even more than bigger SUVs. I dont do serious off-roading, but Ive taken it places I wouldnt want to drive a car with zero issues. Excellent for camping, and the picnic table...cmon! What could be cooler?

  • It Goes Forever With No Problems - 1999 Honda CR-V

We bought our 99 CRV new in January of 1999. We now have 102,000 miles without so much as a flat tire. Incredibly reliable vehicle, and it handles well. We purchased the 5-speed manual transmission version, and it is much peppier than the automatic transmission version. I highly recommend the 5-speed version. This vehicle gives you great visibility of the road, and handles like a car with the up-high feel of an SUV. Gas mileage has been real good and the Real- Time 4 WD works real well in the snow and ice.

The Honda CR-V is the BEST small SUV on the market today.I have owned my CR-V for almost 3 years now and it has not had to go back to the dealership once for any kind of problem.I feel that it is the best value for its class. If I have one complaint, it is the cheap Bridestone Dueler HT tires that come as standard equipment on most CR-Vs. The tires produced terrible road noise. I just recently put Michelin X ones on my CR-V and the difference was like night and day.The ride is so much smoother and quiter. If you own a CR-V, do yourself a favor and trash the Bridgestones.I am in love all over again with my CR-V.

  • Best Car Ive Owned - 1999 Honda CR-V

This is a great vehicle - reliable, built well, great mileage, no maintenance problems throughout the almost 3 years Ive had it. Not too big, not too small - Just Right!!! Granted it may not be the most powerful, and its not a serious off- road contender, but I must admit these were not important issues for me personally. If you want a little more than a car to drive around in, the CR-V does the job well.

Ive driven this car for 3 years with no maintenance other than oil changes and it has been extremely reliable. I would buy another one.

  • What an excellent car - 1999 Honda CR-V

I just rolled over to 180,000 miles and my green cr-v still runs like the day I bought it (now I know why I see so damn many of these around. They last forever!). Though the car is a little on the uncomfortable side, with hard, non-supportive seats and loud road noise, it has a unique charm to it and is fun to drive. Handling is super responsive, giving good road feel and traction is superb due to the awd. It revs up high, and has good power above 4000 rpm XD. Shifts are a little bit rough at lower speeds, and the transmission seems to need fluid changes often. Id say no more than 30-40k between tranny fluid changes or youll probably regret it. Braking feel is perfect, and the brakes themselves work extremely well and are quite sharp on response. Overall this is one of the most talked about and recommended choices for reliable transportation, and for good reason. While I try not to jump on the Honda fanboy bandwagon (all manufacturers have bad years or models), this car makes it especially hard not to, as it has treated me so well. I use it for long distance trips, and as a delivery vehicle, and it has yet to let me down, outside of regular maintenance and small bits here and there. The only things Ive needed to replace (besides tires, etc.) are a control arm bushing, a cv joint boot, and an engine mount (all well under 100$). The damn thing still has the original battery. It doesnt get much better than this! What a freaking great car.
