  • Its only day one, but I think Im in love - 2014 Honda Accord

I have never posted a review on anything in my 38 years on Earth, but I had to throw my thoughts on this car out there in the universe. I purchased a 2014 Sport model with the 6 speed manual. It is a comfortable, precise, economical, and believe it or not, for a family sedan its a hoot to drive. I will continue to purchase manual transmissions until they are phased out. I must say that the shifter in this car is the best Ive ever had the pleasure to row. If Honda can only toss in a better sounding radio and a sunroof, I think it could create world peace. If you cant drive stick you owe it to yourself to get out of your comfort zone. Its that good.

  • 4 cyl CVT vs V6 AT - 2014 Honda Accord

I test drove an EX CVT and a EXL V6 back to back before purchasing the EXL V6. The EX interior was not near as nice as my 2011 EX interior, very plain, no wood trim, etc. Also, the CVT does a great job and isnt noticeable, until you need power. Then it revs up and hangs there at high rpm until you let off. These were issues for me so I went with the EX-L V6 (which is a totally different driving experience)

Just purchased new last week. Was able to get $ 5500 off of sticker price, due to negative comments by Consumer Reports regarding the V6 models reliability. Yes, the car doesnt ride as smooth as a luxury vehicle. I am fine with the ride, feels sporty. Lots of complaints about the ride quality, dont buy it if you dont like it...No, I cannot feel any vibrations from the 6 when 3 cyl are deactivated (Fixed for 2014??) Yes, the car is a bit noisy at HWY speeds but quieter than my 2011 EX. Seems quiet around 40 but wind and road noise present at 65 +. Yes, HandsFreeLink needs work! Not intuitive and functionality limited. Difficult to set up speed dial, etc.

I only have 1K miles on it. I bought the Sport because it was one of the few vehicles that was offered in a Manual transmission, was fun to drive, had enough room in the rear seats for teenagers, and I could fit comfortably (63" and 210lbs). It is a lot of fun to drive - even with a good portion of my 60 mile round trip commute being in bumper-to-bumper traffic. Gear change and clutch is one of the best I have experienced - slightly behind my old Miata, but better than my prior Cayman. It does not like to be rushed, however. Handling is a surprise. Very taunt with little bodyroll, but will begin to understeer at the limits. The ride is perfect - firm, but soaks up all bumps.

Ive had the 14 Accord LX for a few months now. Paid $19,000 in SoCal. Pros: I have had NO problems (shaking, judders, shudders, etc) with the CVT. Smooth acceleration and shifting (or whatever it is). Steering is light and responsive. Rearview camera with active guides (it takes awhile to get used to what the lines mean on the guides) Cons: It doesnt support iOS (iphone), so I switched to android. On the drivers side outside mirror, the outer edge is distorted and its a little distracting, im not sure what its supposed to do, but its a fail. The 4 speaker sound system sounds kinda crappy. Small fingerprint-sized area of paint on the hood is slightly dull looking.

In the market for a new car and a previous Accord owner I jumped ship to a 5th Gen Nissan Altima. On paper it made sense, it offered features the Accord didnt at thousands less. 2 transmissions, a new radio and the dash, moonroof and rear deck rattling like a tin can later Nissan was finally forced to buy it back under lemon law. Back to the Honda lot I went and bought a 2014 EX-L V6. Ill say the car delivers. Its solid, quiet, fuel efficient and styled as aggressively as Id like. The ground doesnt light up when I open the door and the seat doesnt 60/40 split (cmon Honda?), but Im in love with the ride and comfort. Dont agree w/the seat complaints, 10 way pwr suits my bad back!

My Background: I took more than one year to buy new car and in between I was going through numerous reviews, Test Rides and friends experiences (Whoever bought any car brand in 1st week they were blown away but after some time you can see them back to reality). SUV or Car: In my purchase process I was first confused to go with Sedan or SUV. My daily Driving is 70 miles RT and compact crossover SUV failed to impress me in front of Midsize sedans so finally decided to go with Car. I have 2002 Camry. In 2012 I was almost sure to buy Camry but as time goes I took test ride of Nissan Altima 2013, Kia Optima 13, Sonata 13, Toyota Camry 13 and Accord 13. After major changes in accord

  • I just dont get it... - 2014 Honda Accord

I have a 2014 EX-L Accord that 15 years ago would have been pure fantasy (esp,, the gas mileage, engine technology, etc). I just dont see where you can nit-pick too much an a car that was built with the minds of a likely very anal retentive group of designers. Here are a few sill examples: 1) On the shift handle, the button you depress initially felt kinda chintzy however, over time you realize the lightness of design makes it just a little bit easier to depress - it almost floats. I think this design esthetic pervades the car. It seems like everything works very well.

  • quality, fun and value - 2014 Honda Accord

Did extensive review research for a sporty mid-sized sedan for around $25k. 3 made the short list Mazda 6 Touring, Subaru Legacy Sport and Honda Accord Sport. 3 quality cars. Legacy AWD makes it super-handler but less roomy and new model coming next year (worth a serious look im sure). Mazda 6 great looking, solid perfromance and excellent quality cabin. Accord Sport just pipped the 6 for its understated but sporty trim, perfect balance & agility and sport mode gearing. It lacks a few creature comforts but for sheer driving experience and outstanding value its the winner.

  • Supple Ride??? - 2014 Honda Accord
    By -

My recent purchase of a 2014 Honda Accord EXL-V6 was my first for this make and probably my last. The car has the most value per dollar of any others we looked at including Avalon, Lexus 350kRX, Altima, Chevy Impala, Ford models, Infiniti G-37 and Q50. Interior and exterior design is first class, controls are easy to use, very roomy interior and comfortable seating, large trunk space, etc. And the ride is like a dream...a very, very, bad dream. Whoever decided that family sedans should have a sport or firm suspension system need to have his head examined. Unless the streets and highways are new and exceptionally smooth, the ride almost shakes the fillings out of my teeth.
