Model Overview:

Few vehicles from overseas manufacturers have garnered as much respect in North America as the Honda Accord. It hasn't achieved this status by being glamorous, sexy or thrilling. Instead, Honda just seems to have its finger on the pulse of what Americans value most. Take an Accord for a spin and you'll find it to be comfortable, roomy, intelligently engineered and easy to drive. It's also backed by strong resale value and a solid reputation for reliability.

You'll find that certain competing sedans and coupes are quicker, more prestigious or simply less expensive than the Accord. What's special about the Honda Accord, though, is its completeness. It scores well across a broader range of categories than practically any family-friendly sedan or coupe on the market. When examined from this holistic standpoint, it's easy to see why the Accord has become an automotive icon and remains one of our editors' top recommendations.

  • 2014 EX - rattling sounds are driving me crazy! - 2014 Honda Accord
    By -

The vehicle is about 5 months old with a little over 4000 miles. About to take it back for the 4th time for rattling/ticking noises in the cabin. Dealer has looked at the dashboard, passenger door, center console. Now the glove box door is making a ticking noise. The night shift mustve assembled this vehicle. Drivetrain works well, and love the passenger side camera. About what Id expect from a $24,000 car....except for the ticking noise. Went from a 2000 Toyota Avalon to the 2014 Accord. The Avalon, with 232,000 miles, was quieter than this vehicle. Prefer driving my daughters 2006 Mazda so that I can avoid the ticking noise in the Accord.

  • BORING, desperately boring - 2011 Honda Accord
    By -

I have never questioned the reliability and build quality of Honda cars. This is my third. But I need out of it. Im getting too old to think the rest of my life will be spent wondering if ill be able to merge onto Texas highway traffic, and having cars behind me wishing Id install a supercharger on this slothful, well-built family car. The aftermarket doesnt exist for this car. Know why? Because you need to start with a realistic platform to even think about buying more performance! If youre retired, or maybe wanting a slow safe car for your teen, this car is for you. If you like to drive, not so much.

  • 2012 Accord Disappointment (EX 2.4L) - 2012 Honda Accord
    By -

Honda quality for 2012 does not include transmissions. Shifting at low speeds is unpredictable. Hesitation was a common occurance. It left the driver unsure of what to expect when pulling out in traffic. The car feels like an old "boat" from the 1960s. It is too big and bulky. There may be 190HP under the hood but you dont get to use it due to the tranny. For my wifes safety, I traded it after 27,000 miles.

  • V6 VCM has serious design problems - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

As evidenced by class action settlement last year the 2009 Honda Accord Coupe with the V6 variable cylinder management system is an absolute lemon and has seriously damaged Hondas reputation for producing a quality vehicles. I purchased my 2009 Honda in 2008 and started having misfire issues last year. My car has been in the shop seven times for the same issue. In December 2013, my local Honda dealership a fix to cylinders 1-4 as recommended by the service bulletin issued in response to the class action settlement. My car stalled less than week after this fix was applied with misfire issues on cylinders 5 and 6 and it has been in the shop 3 times since.

  • Poor Heat and comfort - 2012 Honda Accord
    By -

This car does not blow hot air when the temp is below 0 deg F. If you live in cold climates and dont want to over dress for a long commute to work, then make sure to test drive this car in the winter on a subzero day before buying. I actually took this car back to the dealer to have the heat checked in my first winter. The dealer said it was working normal. Ive since asked other Honda owners about this and they agree that the heat is poor. My old Galant with 230,000 miles heats up much quicker and hotter! I am sadly trading this car in because of this as Im tired of driving in an icebox. For a car with such a vaunted reputation, I am greatly disappointed with this vehicle.

  • Oil pump, timing chain failure at 15,200 miles - 2013 Honda Accord
    By -

2013 Accord LX, CVT Auto, 15,200 miles (bought new). A few seconds after starting the car, it made a horrendous grinding, screeching sound, with every indicator light on. I did not drive it, and it was towed to a dealer. It needed a new oil pump, timing chain, sprocket, etc - all covered under warranty. The dealer had no idea why the failure occured, and had never seen this on a Honda with so few miles. It took a week to repair, which was a major inconvenience. The car ran fine with no problems at all prior to this incident. I am sorry I purchased a Honda with so many other choices out there. I was sold on their legandary reliability.

  • Not what Honda a worthy car - 2008 Honda Accord
    By -

Bought the 2008 Honda Accord V6 late in 08 & really thought this was a car that would be built good & solid. In November 2013 it was missing when I would stop so I took it to be looked at the local garage. They mentioned that Honda has had a lot of trouble with these V6s & that they dont even suggest buying a Honda anymore when someone asks for a reliable car. They had checked it out & replaced the #3 plug which from the posts on line, this is a common problem. So after getting home I looked online as to the problem with these & find that they start burning oil. This seemed total crazy, a car burning oil before, say 100K? In the old days yes but newer cars? Some had said they were putting

  • Nice car......too bad about the seats - 2014 Honda Accord
    By -

I have owned this car for 7 days, and even though I love the ride, power, CVT, looks, and all the other stuff, the bucket seats are awful. I am 6 feet tall, 195 lbs, and there is no way to adjust the seat to fit my size. The seats are built for a small framed person (like my wife, 57 130 lbs). When I sit in the drivers seat I actually sit up on it, with no butt support, and no back support. The drivers seat is crippling me. The back seats are much flatter, and better. Take the car for longer than a 15 minute test drive, or rent one for a weekend. I made an expensive mistake.

  • Steering Wheel Noise & Break Noise - 2013 Honda Accord
    By -

I purchased my 2013 Honda Accord V6 used with 10k miles on the odometer I now have 12k after a month of driving. I’ve noticed the ticking noise in the steering wheel and a metal on metal scraping noise coming from the brakes. I’m taking it to the dealer tomorrow for their diagnostics of the problem. The exterior redesigned is one of major reasons I settled on the Honda not to mention its track record for reliability. The DNA of this car is Honda, I’m positive the engineers were not shooting for a 4dr NSX when they redesigned the Accord. With that being said, what I was looking for was a middle of the road transporter with decent gas mileage.

  • Failed Transmission - 2003 Honda Accord
    By -

Great car but transmission is not dependable. I would not buy this car unless you are a transmission mechanic.
