  • Acura TL -The Best Value On The Road - 2005 Acura TL

Terrific performance for the money - this is the best value car on the road today. Navigation system knocks spots off the one in our 2001 BMW 540i and the Acura is 100% more reliable than its garage mate. Acura could improve the turn radius and make the steering wheel telescope but otherwise theyve thought of everything. The Bridgestone performance tires were a big disappointment and wore out after 12,000 miles - with no hot-rodding to hasten their demise. We replaced them with Pirellis and are much happier. This is my 3rd Acura (1995 Legend, 2000 TL) and I love the brand. The availability of a manual transmission in the 2004 TL was a key selling point for this family.

  • TL vs G35x - 2005 Acura TL

The TL is overall a wonderful car. I picked it over a BMW 330, Audi A4, Cadillac CTS and Infinity G35x. As much as I loved the G35xs AWD and overall performance I could not believe the poorly laid out and cheap looking interior in the G35x. The TL offers decent performance with understated styling and a great interior at a comparative bargin price. The sound system is second to none, but DVD audio content is very limited. The dealer has been great and even installed the optional wheels and tires at a very nominal charge. The car is "rock solid."

Have basic model in automatic. Driven for 4 yrs now. Excellent car - good performance and build quality. Highs - quality feel, good acceleration (in manual mode in auto), good mpg on highway (about 30), sticks to road akin to European car. Lows - initial tires were Michelins and awful - rapid wear and no grip in rain or snow (bloody dangerous after 20k on slick/poor quality roads in frosty Winnipeg), mpg in city not great (about 15-18).

Just bought a 2005 TL, it only had 16k miles on it, which is the main reason I bought it. I have driven nothing but SUVs and jeeps, so I was nervous about a car, but this thing rocks. It handles well, it is comfortable and looks great. I love it.

This car handles and drives like a sport car. The interior room is ample for a tall person. The car looks like a streamline machine, and in black, it looks menecing on the highway.

I purchased my white TL with 60k earlier this year. I was hesitant since it had so many miles but the car runs like a champ. I have put on about 15k mile on it in 10 months and it runs perfect! I came from owning 3 V8 Mustangs, 1 of which had 400rwhp... the TL is just as much fun to drive as those and its probably faster than my old 5.0. What really attracted me to the Acura was the interior. I test drove many cars from MB, BMW, Lexus and the Acuras was easily the best. My vehicle has 75k on the odometer now the interior still looks new, GPS/Bluetooth are still top notch compared to new 2009 vehicles... to top it off the pricing on these vehicles is great as well.

I have 6M, true there is torque steer issue and launching the car does require attention paid lest you stall/chirp/peel at traffic lights. The fuel ecomomy is excellent 23~26 on average HVAC excellent always comfortably. Electronics work well. I do not have a Bluetooth telephone yet but I am looking forward to that. The turnk is smaller than the Vigor but trunk liner and the cargo nets and pass through make this trunk more usable, a fold down rear seat would have beeen a help. The power of this car and the effortless ability to cruise at high speed has netted me 1 speeding ticket and has caused me to really choose when/where to lean into the power of that 270 HP V6.

When I first got this car I was thrilled with it. After a year and a half though, problems are rising up that are making me think twice. 1) The brakes screech. I’ve had a service done where they replaced the pads and turned the rotors. That silenced them for 5k miles. I now have to drive with the windows up. 2) Rattles are getting noisier. 3) Rust! I’ve got rust bubbling up from under the paint on the trunk already. 4) The originally gray dashboard is quickly fading to an off white. Very ugly. I’m wondering if I should have bought something else.

Nice performance and auto transmission. Could use a slightly higher spring and shock rate, though it handles well for a more lux. oriented car. The TL can be slightly floaty feeling at higher speeds.

After researching this vehicle, along with the Maxima, Lexus 330 & Infiniti GS35 I picked this on its overall combination of performance, comfort, quality, and technology.
