Model Overview:

The Ford F-150 is the star of the long-running F-Series line, which stretches back to the post-World War II era, and millions of F-150s have been sold in that time. Originally conceived as a rugged, no-frills workhorse, the Ford F-150 has since morphed into a well-appointed, versatile rig with numerous trim levels that serve a wide range of shoppers, including weekend warriors who need room for the family and the occasional trip to the hardware store.

The full-size pickup segment is so competitive these days that it's hard to pick a clear favorite. But new or used, the F-150 is a great choice, with recent models offering cutting-edge features like turbocharged engines and the MyFord Touch electronics interface. Thanks to the Ford F-150's countless configurations and incredible popularity, you're almost guaranteed to find one that meets your needs.

The selector for this review didnt give the right option for my truck. I have a F-150 XLT Super Cab 2x4 eco boost engine, currently 36,000 miles, shorter cab and longer bed because I am using this truck to tow a light weight (7200 lb dry weight, 9500 lbs loaded) 34 fifth wheel RV. This truck pulls my RV with ease, so far I have towed about 9000 miles from the flat (and sometimes windy) lands of Kansas to the mountain passes of over 10 and 11,000 feet with absolutely no problems. I can tow as fast as I want 60-70 mph, even using cruise control. MPG highway 20-23, towing 8-11. This is working perfectly for our needs.

  • Look out after purchase. - 2010 Ford F-150

Watch out for the seat heaters! They go out after a few years. Dont put a sticker inside on the rear window. It takes off the rear window defrost and wont work again. Dont get the dual zone climate control. If the drivers side quits, you have to take out the entire dash to fix the blend air valve! Watch this truck for leaks! Loves to leak around the sunroof and upper rear brake light above the rear window. Speaking of sunroof, you had better us it about once per week, or NOT AT ALL. The track dries out, and if you try to open it you will break the track! Which the parts arent expensive, its all the labor! They Goodyear tires that came on my FX4 were terrible! I think I got 32,000 miles out of the set. Not what I was expecting.

  • Very Nice Truck " BUT " - 2015 Ford F-150

Outside looks very nice,BUT rear bed sits way too high for my likes.i plan on lowering rear height a couple of inches, ride is a little bouncy with empty bed but was to be expected. one big complaint is for almost $50,000 you dont get the 2 speed 4wd Auto system in an XLT,to me it makes having a 4WD almost useless for any on road driving,or having to keep turning it on and off all the time as you run into dry pavement at times, come on Ford all 4WD systems should have the 4WD Auto setting, most of us dont take them off road,we need to just set it and forget about it in Auto setting. I have the fold down console which the headrest blocks the cup holders by the floor when down,my 2011 ford cup holders pulled out past the headrest,so no problem, new design sucks, along with that why were the headlight switches moved so low, hard to operate there, also the new AC vents are not as usefull as old ones, feel truck has moved backwards in design since owning a 2011 XLT to compare it with. I am getting 18MPG city driving with the 5.0 V8 and 21 on highway,i have no complaints with that, love the outside looks of truck and get lots of complements on the Ruby Red Metallic color,so heres hoping i will get used to its little flaws IMO,and that it dos not need any warranty service,as i did with my 2011 XLT ,thats another story

  • Ford F-150 Supercrew review - 2011 Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 is one of the most popular cars or trucks out on the road in the past few years. I was lucky enough to purchase one a few years ago. I am a proud owner of the Ford F-150 Super Crew. The Ford F-150 Super Crew is one of the best trucks I have ever had the chance to drive. The pure size of the truck makes it that much better to haul equipment or even supplies for the job that you are working on. It can hold a lot of equipment for any sport you want to play. When choosing a truck you always need to look at the durability. With the F-150 and its Steel frame it’s durability is top of the class in regards to trucks. Since purchasing this truck in 2011 we have had no issues with it. The only thing we have brought it in for was for its regular oil change. We have a cabin in the North Woods of Michigan and it takes a beating up there but has never failed on us or had anything break because of it. There are many uses for the Ford F-150. I mainly use it for moving around college and hauling my dirt bikes and ATV’s around when trying to find places to ride. My dad, his two brothers, and their uncle use it for hunting when I am not using it. It has done wonders for their hunting trips being able to carry all the decoys and guns that they have when they go. All five of them fit comfortably in the truck and they are all over 6’2”. When hauling a trailer behind it, it feels like there is nothing back there. When looking at the truck one of the bad things about it would be that the fake chrome on the handles is starting to peel off so it looks cheap when it does. Another would be the cost to fill up the massive 32-gallon tank. Some of the pros are that it is the most reliable truck/car I have ever owned. In conclusion the Ford F-150 would get 5/5 stars in my book. For the beating that my family and myself has put it through it has yet to have anything happen to it, which is exactly, what you want in a truck.

  • Engine Blew UP - 2013 Ford F-150
    By -

I have about 86000 miles on my 2013 F-150 with Ecoboost. I was pretty happy with the truck, changed oil regularly, and always have properly serviced. Fords warranty is no good, even with an extended warranty it would have only been for 60000 miles. I was driving down the road and the engine quit. The Ford service has told me that the #6 piston is missing and two other pistons are very damaged. The head has a whole in it from the damage. There was no indication that the engine was failing. It will cost me $9,000-$10,000 for a new engine and I am still paying on this truck.

  • not much of an improvement over the last one - 2015 Ford F-150
    By -

My 2015 F-150 isnt my daily driver so I only have about 1,500 miles on it. I have owned it for 3 months. This is my 3rd F150. The others were almost flawless. I am Ford loyal so despite the misgivings about the aluminum body I bought one. First the good: it drives like a dream. Unbelievably good handling (it has the FX4 package). The interior is very comfortable, even for trips of 2-3 hours. It looks good. Acceleration is excellent with the V8. Now the bad: Within 2 months of ownership someone tried to break in. The police think it was to get to the tailgate (which can only be locked electronically now - bad). The driver window was on order for 2 weeks through the dealer (unacceptable). The dealer complained non-stop about the new aluminum body while I was getting an estimate. The instrument panel is a mess. I viewed it as a weakness when I was test driving it, but had no idea how much I would hate the layout until I bought it. Every button seems misplaced and awkward. The transmission is still a 6 speed and shifts a little oddly (mistimed). The radio and nav are below what I would expect for a Lariat level truck. Mileage is worse than I expected. Not sure Ford did its best with this one, but I will keep it for a while and see if it grows on me.

  • WOW!!! - 2015 Ford F-150

This trucks 2.7L twin turbo engine roars with speed and power, its incredibly fast off the line. Considering its power the mpg its good, but in real world not great when compared to other trucks. Supposedly with the 4x4 I should be getting 19 combined, in actuality Im getting 17-18. The computer is showing close to 18.7, but when calculated manually its a mile or more less. That said, by electing the smaller engine it would matter if there was a trade off for mileage vs power, but thats not the case. Im suspecting with a custom tune the shifting would improve and the turbos performance would increase substantially. There is probably no end to what could be done in performance mods. Pros: Fast/Powerful, handles great, very roomy, good gas mileage for a truck, awesome front end look. Aluminum body reduces weight, seems tough and doesnt dent easy. Cons: Front seats not the most comfortable, plastic trim Interior, halogen lights, navigation and leather arent included until you fork out big bucks. Ford makes you pay for options other makers may include. They probably needed to give and take somewhere considering the expense they forked out for the lighter aluminum body. Ford needs a black out option, this truck is black and there is to many emblems colors on it, plus the white lettering on the tires. It weakens its appearance.
