This Year's Model Updates:

The Nissan Maxima is completely redesigned for 2009, with an added focus on performance and luxury.

Pros:
  • Delicately precise steering, strong powertrain, high-quality interior craftsmanship, tons of high-tech features, best iPod integration presently available.
Cons:
  • Luxury and Sport models lack the brand cachet their price tags imply, mostly useless middle rear seat with Sport or Premium Packages, equipment stuffed into expensive packages.

  • Geat bargain - 2009 Nissan Maxima

Cruises like a luxury car and feels like a turbocharged sports car when pushed harder. The S model is better equipped than competitors. This car has its own niche. If you want it all, reasonably speaking, no other car in this price range is close. The G8 is faster but try to buy one with these features at this price.

  • THIS CAR NEEDS HELP - 2009 Nissan Maxima

the car looks great, perhaps the reason I went for it, but it handles like crap. it consistently pulls (drifts to the right) and the dealer has tried, but has been able to do nothing to fix it. I must fight the car to stay straight and I am calling an attorney to do my best to get out of this car. The dealer is very receptive, but will not make any concessions. for a $35k car, it is NOT worth it!

  • Great Car; large engine=a bit lower mpg - 2009 Nissan Maxima

This is my third Max; had the first one in 1989, and 2000. Love Consumer Reports, but they are dead wrong complaining about light steering at low speeds. THAT is one of the features that enables this car to maneuver easily. Driving around town, however, I am only getting about 19.5 (avg of -30 mph). Started to go cheap, but when compared, the features of the SV far outweigh the S for the $. Had a 2006 VW Passat Sports6, and while the Max doesnt drive as tight as that, it is far more comfy, and I dont anticipate living at the dealers service facility for minor stuff that = a thousand cuts.

Coming off a S60, checked the choices but could not pass up the 09 Maxima. Lots more for the $$ compared to what the luxury brands offered. U can feel the 290 horses. Interior space much better then the luxury competition.

  • OK, its worth it, have fun - 2009 Nissan Maxima

After 1750 miles, this car rocks, and it is understated to none. I did not opt for the nav or Premium Pkg. as these items are easily added OEM portables. I dont need heated seats, the cockpit is extremely well-configured, I am 62 lots of room, tested Acura TL, the same class Lexus, BMW and VW. MPG on the 315HP with K&N filter is a rocketship, a loyalist is formed; price is a value after you drive this sexy rocket, and compare. With the look of a thoroughbred, it just calls to be driven, I cannot stop staring at it, but I have taken up residence again in the house, it was difficult to leave alone and it calls now... bye

We have owned Nissans since 1987. Each year they get better. This one is the best by far. So comfortable! Great features and fun to drive~

  • Love this car!! - 2009 Nissan Maxima

This is one hot car. From the exterior design, to the interior comfort to the superb V6, this car delivers. Im averaging 24.8 MPG in combined city/hwy driving. Im averaging a shocking 27.3 on the hwy using the recommended 93 octane. The engine is tuned for nothing less than 93 octane fuel. I love the handling, the fit & finish are excellent. Take one for a ride. Then wait and do it again. Then decide for yourself. You wont be disappointed. Really.

  • Great Blend of Handling, Ride, Power! - 2009 Nissan Maxima
    By -

I found this car to be the best blend of looks, power, handling, ride, quality and fun-to-drive compared to Lexus 350, Infiniti G-37, BMW 328i and Hyundai Genesis. It is a great value and vastly under-rated in some professional car magazines. CVT transmission, HID headlights and audio system are among the best. (Somewhat taut suspension is fine on most roads but sensitive to poor ones.) Ive had it 13 months and no problems at all. Service at two dealers has been fine.

  • What a car! - 2009 Nissan Maxima

Traded in my 2nd Camry for my first Nissan, and I have to say Im thrilled with the purchase. Basically have now found what it means to have a sports sedan instead of a family cruiser and I will not be looking back! Test drove approximately 10 cars and never really found that perfect fit of sports sedan, luxury, good looks and reliability for a great price until now.

  • Fun to Drive, Great Electronics Too - 2009 Nissan Maxima
    By -

I seriously considered (and test-drove) the Toyota Avalon, the Lexus ES330/350 and IS250, and the Maxima was just a better overall vehicle. Its comfortable, stylish, feature-rich, and extremely fun to drive. The CVT transmission is very responsive, the engine has ample power, handles like a sports car, yet has room for 4 people (it has seat belts for 5, but the 5th one had better be a midget). I fell in love with the iPod integration immediately, and the center console computer (I didnt buy the nav) has bucketloads of information if you desire info. I cant say enough about how I enjoy the SmartKey (breaking the habit of taking out a key was easier than I thought). Terrific vehicle!
