The Maxima receives updates this year that make it less of a family sedan and more of an entry-level luxury sport sedan. Headlining this year's upgrades is a 3.5-liter V6 that produces a stunning 255 horsepower. For maximum performance, sport-tuned SE models now combine this engine with a standard six-speed manual transmission. Other changes include revised exterior styling, additional feature content and an optional GPS navigation system.

  Most car for the money - 2002 Nissan Maxima

  This is one of the best cars you can buy for under 30K. The GLE comes with everything you would ever need. Add cold weather package and traction control and you have the ultimate car. There is nothing more you could want. Traction control works great on ice. Torque steer is noticeable when you step hard on the gas. The brakes stop on a dime. Much smoother than an Acura TL Type S(which costs more) Nissan has re inveneted itself. You cant get into a comparable BMW,Audi,Acura,Lexus for this amount of luxury and performance. Infiniti G35 is great...but RWD in the NE isnt the best.

  My new Maxima SE is a great car. The new engine offers tons of power, the ride on the SE was a little harsher than I had expected. In all this is a great car, if you are looking for a comfortable ride try the GLE. If sporty handling with great acceleration is what you need try the SE.

  Owning this car has been a generally satisfying experience. I am VERY impressed with my dealers response to warranty situations. Things to fix iclude: Fix SLIPPERY steering wheel on GLE model ... dangerous!!! Needs more comfortable drivers seat with more secure hip gripping ... tendency to slide around on turns with leather upholstery. Less jouncy suspension option.

  I absolutely LOVE this car! We got the SE with cloth interior and a sunroof. It is a fun car to drive and Im the idiot driving around smiling all the time! The powerful engine is magnificent and it handles really well. This is my first NEW car and first time Maxima owner. I dont think I will ever get another type of vehicle again!

  Motor Trend just called their long term Nissan Maxima basically "the budget BMW 5 Series" and that was with the 222HP 3.0L V-6 engine! Imagine how much better it must feel with the 255 HP 3.5L V-6 engine....Why so many hateful reviews? Why great reviews scoring about 5? WHATS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE????? 14.4 1/4 miles can only be achieved by 8 cylinder 5 series BMWs....Besides the V-6 has been rated many times as one of the "Worlds Best".

  Weve owned our 2002 Maxima GLE since it was new. Its been a bull: smooth, comfortable, reliable. Next to nothing to fix - except the CD player - outside of normal maintenance. We still own it. It still drives beautifully. Congratulations, Nissan.

  I cant believe how low the Maxima is rated! This is my second Max. I previously had a 00 and now a 02. The 02 is improved over the 00. Its a little quicker, 5 spoke mag wheels, xeon headlights, interior improvements, and other mechanical improvements, too many to mention here. The only con thing is the rear suspension. The rear shimmies if you hit a bad bump.

  This is my 2nd Nissan Maxima SE. I bought the same color, same interior, same everything except I had a 99 SEL and bought a 2002. I like the improvments in the styling. Although I like the styling of the Infiniti G35 much better. This one sits more comfortably than my 99. I am a loyal Nissan owner.

  Excellent vehicle, i would highly recommend it. It was very reliable and had an amazing engine. Perform regular maintenance and this car will not let you down. Only draw back was the poor MPG and recommendation for premium fuel
