maxima - 1997 Nissan Maxima
By Hughm - May 9 - 2:00 amSmooth, strong & comfortable. Great room for the tall people, that goes for the back too. Good pickup. Very good price for a nice sedan that will last 200k miles and more.

Maxima keeps getting better - 1997 Nissan Maxima
By Aaron LA - April 28 - 10:00 amThis is my 3rd Maxima, had a 87, 91 and now this. I have had it for over a year and have put 30,000 miles on it. Just had to replace brakes and tires. Its a GREAT car with great features. Super reliable, has great pick up (especially since mine is manual), great friendly features, and overall is a fun car to drive. I do wish it had more power like the newer versions though. Bottom line, an incredible car at a reasonable price.

1997 Maxima - 1997 Nissan Maxima
By Aaron - April 11 - 9:53 pmThe car performed great for the first 95,000 miles. - 95,000 front left strut (covered by the 100,000 warranty I added at purchase) - 130,000 the radio volume knob doesnt work well, speakers deteriorated - 140,000 starter ($480) - 145,000 alternator ($470) - 157,000 right front wheel bearing, both axle boots ripped so replaced axles ($830) - 158,000 (currently) the front brakes are creaking horribly (brakes are quite new) So after $1780 in the last two years, I wont be spending anymore money on this car. And will not be buying another Nissan, too unreliable. I treated this car like a baby and it basically started shutting down on me.

Great all-arounder - 1997 Nissan Maxima
By bigtex144 - March 14 - 9:36 amI bought my 97 Maxima SE 5-speed about 2 years ago and am in love with it. The fact that its my 4th car in under 2 years says a lot! I bought it with 307K miles on it (a testament to how unbelievably solid the car was and still is to this day). Im now over 343K miles and have had to replace little; The 02 sensors, the struts (which were original), and slave/master cylinders. I get 30-33 mpg almost every tank, and thats even with mixed city/hwy. Power is still great after all these miles when I need it too! Did not come with the Bose stereo; stock CD player and volume knob didnt work and all 4 speakers were rotted out, so I replaced those and it sounds great now

Fun Yet Solid Like a Rock - 1997 Nissan Maxima
By asktoknow - January 24 - 2:00 amNever had a day of trouble in five years. Still has the same throaty growl when the 3.0 liter engine accelerates. Wish I had bought three.

Very Reliable - Great Performance - 1997 Nissan Maxima
By vmok - November 24 - 11:30 amI have a 1997 Maxima SE 5sp. It has 145k+ miles on it and continues to deliver the smooth fast performance that it did the day I got it. The power delivery and smoothness in the engine makes freeway merging, city driving, and any thing else you can think of a easy. In fact, with the 5sp, its easy to hit the rev limiter because the engine is so quiet and smooth. Its not the best handling car nor the fastest, but a great sports sedan for the money!

The best! - 1997 Nissan Maxima
By bonton - November 7 - 4:06 pmI bought this car when it had 40K miles on it and now, 5/07, it has 202K and still runs as good as the day I bought it. I have replaced an oxygen sensor, the starter, and the brakes. This is without a doubt, the best car I have ever owned in my 32 years of driving. I will keep it until they push me off the road.

What A Great Vehicle - 1997 Nissan Maxima
By Pleased Customer - October 7 - 1:20 pmI purchased my Nissan at 32000 miles,I now have 394,000 miles. I still get excellent gas mileage 24 city and 30 hwy. This vehicle is driven slightly over 1000 miles weekly. I replaced the alternator due to a recall, only oil changes as recommended, tires and of course brakes. The Bose stereo system still sounds awesome. Slight tear on driver leather seat. If you perform the maintenance required on this auto I can surely guarantee you will find this car to be a keeper.I will continue to drive this car until sadly it has to go to the "Automobile Haven". This is truly is a well handling vehicle on highway.

WOW - 1997 Nissan Maxima
By KeeponpatH - September 18 - 1:43 amI have taken over my uncles car who drives a lot, now I got this car at 300,000 miles. Now its at 330,000 miles, and it still runs great. Replaced starter, need to replace alternator now, and other stuff like brakes and such. It still gives the people "wow.." when I tell them how much mileage is on the car.

Very Happy with this car - 1997 Nissan Maxima
By Jon123 - August 26 - 2:00 amBought this car new in 97 now has 110k miles with virtually no problems, a/c compressor had to be replaced @30k miles (under warranty though)just replaced both cv joints, other than that has been a very reliable, fun car, thanks to the 5spd. Leather interior has held up very well, exterior paint is average. Great car for the money.
