The 2002 Sonata receives a new look, a refined suspension and an available automanual transmission. The standard features list is lengthened to include such niceties as remote keyless entry and, on GLS and new-for-2002 LX models, 16-inch wheels. In September 2002, Hyundai announced that it had misstated the horsepower ratings for all of the models in its lineup -- the Sonata's 2.4-liter four-cylinder is now rated for 138 hp, while the V6 is now at 170, the previously advertised 2002 power upgrade (11 horsepower) apparently notwithstanding. To compensate, the company is offering owners (of 2000 models and newer) three options: 10 years of roadside assistance, 6-year/72,000-mile basic warranty coverage or 12-year/120,000-mile powertrain coverage.

Its a bargain - 2002 Hyundai Sonata
By Cnw - May 30 - 10:00 amI wanted a good vehicle, roomy, and under $17,000. The Sonata fit the bill. Every new vehicle I ever owned went back to the dealer during its forst month of ownership. My dealer saw my vehicle for its first oil change. I love this vehicle. My son has an Elantra and will be trading it in for a new 2003 Tiburon. Does that say something about quality

By dadscar - May 24 - 10:00 am1100 miles. Ive got the "I cant believe I got all this for such a small price" feeling. GLS is sporty. V6 has plenty of power, makes a beautiful sporty sound when it revs a little higher. 16-inch wheels and Michelins give control and confidence, even in rain. Shiftronic is great fun. 4 wheel disc brakes. CD/tape/AM/FM has great controls, big buttons, and nice sound. Power antenna, heated mirrors, keyless entry, leather wrapped steering wheeel, theater lighting, fog lights. Firm comfortable seats, nice fabric. Powerful A/C. Faux wood is well done. Front doors close with nice thunk.

By M Bartels - May 16 - 2:00 amBattery replaced under warrenty in the first year, no other problems. everything has been trouble free. I shopped Toyota Camery, Nissan Altima, Mitsu Gallant. I believe this represents the best value for the money. I get many compliments and questions about my satisfaction. I am waiting for the new body style before committing to another new car. I bought because of the warrenty and styling. Very happy with the car as a Real Estate Salesman that often carries rear seat passengers.

By PRD - April 21 - 2:00 amWe love our Sonata. Weve owned it now for about a year and a half and have had no real problems with it. Its more comfortable on long trips than any of the cars weve rented in the past(Pontiac, Toyota, Oldsmobile...) Great looking exterior, excellent warranty, very affordable when compared to other similar models of other makes.

By fecports - April 17 - 2:00 amMy wife and I purchased an LX in October that has been loads of fun to drive and is a real head-turner. So far it has been mistaken for a LEXUS and a JAGUAR. While it wont beat anything in the quarter mile, it will do 80 mph (which is my limit) without breaking a sweat. It is extremely comfortable behind the wheel and visibility all around the vehicle is great. It is loaded with all the features that I ever wanted in a car but didnt want to pay for and the warranty gives me piece of mind should anything go awry. I agree with the rough idle comment and the car is less then appreciative when asked to operate before the engine is warm.

BUT AFTER I DROVE IT I KNEW IT WAS GOING HOME WITH ME. AFTER ALL THE WARRENTY WAS GOING TO COVER IT SHOULD ANYTHING GO WRONG. I HAVE NOT REGRETED MY DECISION ONCE. I LOVE DRIVING MY CAR AND EVERYTIME I PARK IT MY HUSBAND TAKES OFF IN IT. THE POWER IS INCREDIBLE AND THE INTERIOR I COMFORTABLE AND BEAUTIFUL. WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST CAR WE HAVE EVER OWNED.

I have had it for 2 years and I cant say enough good things about it. I pretend its a jaguar but 1/2 the price. The ride is smooth, love the moon roof. Tons of value for this class of cars. Its a keeper for sure.

By brumble - January 23 - 2:00 amWeve got 26,000 mostly-city miles on our Sonata. The ONLY things weve replaced/fixed are battery and one light bulb. 4 cyl. with 5-speed is lively performer. Quality so far is BETTER than our Camry.
