  • Not a Good Car - 2006 Hyundai Elantra

I currently own an 06 Elantra, after owning an 02 Elantra, I am seriously disappointed. The gas mileage has gotten horrid. I dont even get 18 miles to the gallon anymore, and it has been to every required maintenance and then more. I have taken good care of it, but the reliability of the parts is terrible, and again it has become a horrific gas guzzler. I am at a loss, as is Hyundai, to why it cant get anything over 18 mpg. It is poorly built, the interior has begun to fall apart, switches and knobs have broken, and the cloth seats are coming apart. This car has been used as an in city car only, but is still just falling apart, and costing me an arm and a leg to continue to drive.

  • low maintenance and fuel efficient - 2006 Hyundai Elantra

Overall this car is great. Bouht it when it was new in 2006 because it has a 5 star safety rating and was inexpensive around 13,000. I had horrible credit but hyundai is great at approving financing. Ive only had to do oil changes and one set of tires. Have 36000 miles all highway. I drive long distance and car is very comfy on highway and its "get up n go" peppy. the ac and heat is fanominal in this car and the hotest/coldest ive ever seen. I still have original light bulbs and only used 3 tanks of gas to drive ny to fl as i commute. car is especially smooth with michellin tires and quiet. There is no wind noise at all. I replaced the radio with a sony and sound quality is 10 times better.

  • Great little car! - 2006 Hyundai Elantra

I used Edmonds to locate this car so thought Id return the favor and write a review. If youre looking for a good reliable fuel efficient ride, this is it. I purchased this car a few months ago with 95K on the clock. Ive just turned 106k and other than routine maintenance have had absolutely no trouble.

  • From the cold alaska winter to florida. - 2006 Hyundai Elantra

In 05 I bought the car as my first new car. I was 19. Got married and husband got stationed in Alaska. So we took my car and his rsx to Alaska, we found out we were pregnant, this car lasted to and back from Alaska because Brandon was injured via I. E. D. And I moved back to Florida. When you take care of a car like this it will last you forever. We traded it in at the very end of 08 for a pathfinder which was nothing but problems so we got a 335i. One of the best little cars on the road. Brandon has the beamer and I have an 07 Civic. Not gonna lie. I kind of miss the elantra. Hopefully my little brother will get one in January when he turns 16 and hell let me drive it Im sure (:

  • Too low to the ground, and inside seating - 2006 Hyundai Elantra
    By -

Ive always driven manual cars, Honda Preludes, Toyota Celica but times changed and I bought this car my first 4dr, and its a jewel. Its not fancy its functional since I could not afford a Prius. My only complaint its too low to the ground making certain curbs and deep snow, and potholes a major challenge. The seating is very low and very uncomfortable. With so many trucks and SUV in this area, my car has been hit three times in there years, meaning its low to the ground the big guys back into my car though parked and take my bumper or leave a major expense to the back of car.

  • The little car that could - 2006 Hyundai Elantra

Many hate Hyundai, but never really give them a shot. So far I havent really been disappointed. I might wish for more, but Im happy with the sub $14k price paid. Takes to mods well, including using factory items from higher Hyundai models Car will also take a beating and keep on ticking. Had a compressed piston rod from water logging the engine, but it ran for 20k miles with naught but a misfire code. Have had a couple of minor quality issues dealing with poor taillight fitment and center arm rest fabric coming loose. Only other minor thing would be the mpg. Tho others report more, I ~27 mpg mixed tho have got 33 mpg on long road trips. Still way better than my 18-20 mpg in last car.

  • Terrific vehicle!! - 2006 Hyundai Elantra
    By -

Love the vehicle. Never buy American again due my experiences 4 almost 50 yrs driving. Vehicle has great power & pickup for a 4 sp auto trans. Gas mileage (approx 25 mpg) is great because drive about 45% city, bal hwy. Tend to gun it from stop lite. Handles well, comfortable to drive although at times feel the seats bit 2 low 4 long distance driving. Notice difference when driving dads sonata. Noticed steering wheel was shaking at high speeds, learned rt front wheel was slightly bent. Hit a terrific pothole dec 2008 . Experienced blowout. Bought 2 new tires (not dealer) they didnt check wheel even though I explained what happened. Had slow leak. Now ok.

  • Still going strong at 116,000 miles - 2006 Hyundai Elantra
    By -

I bought my car 4 years ago and I have only replaced the ambient air sensor (warranty work) and an O2 sensor (out of warranty) my only complaint at the moment is that my steering wheel is coming apart. I has been such a great car. Recently made a 4,000+ mile road trip and not one problem. Average 36 mpg on the highway and 28 in town. Just need to figure out why i am going through oil a little faster than normal. Definitely a good car and highly recommended!

  • Customer Lost for Life - 2006 Hyundai Elantra
    By -

I am writing this review because I am extremely frustrated by an intermittent problem with the air conditioner. Basically, sometimes the air comes on, and sometimes it doesnt. It can take as long as 5-10 minutes for the fan to kick in. Imagine what thats like when its 90 degrees out? Problem is, its intermittent. Ive had it in to the dealer. But if its working when I bring it in, they cant figure out the problem. So, I will likely have to live with this as long as I have the car. I have to use my car for my job, so this is pretty awful. Every summer, its the same thing. No more Hyundais for me.

  • Great car! - 2006 Hyundai Elantra

I bought this car used a few months ago and couldnt be more pleased. I routinely get 37+ MPG on the highway and it handles great in the deep MN snow. Great storage with the hatchback and the interior is great. Cant beat the leather, sunroof, etc. that you wont get with a Civic or a Corolla.
